What are dental veneers?
A veneer is a thin shell that is made of either ceramic or porcelain. It is so thin that it will sit on the surface of your tooth without needing to be removed. A small portion of your enamel must be removed first to ensure that the veneers lay flat without making your teeth appear overly large. This is done under anesthesia so that you will not experience any sensitivity or discomfort during the process.
How are dental veneers in Florence placed?
After we have removed a portion of your enamel, we will typically secure temporary veneers to your teeth. This is done using a water-based glue that is removable. The temporary set serves to protect your newly prepared teeth while the dental lab is creating your permanent veneers, which are made from an impression of your teeth. This is a detailed process in which every millimeter counts. The reason veneers look so natural is because of the attention to detail during this step of the process.
While wearing your temporary set of veneers, you should be careful to avoid biting into anything that could dislodge them. An apple is an example of a food that should be avoided. You will also want to brush your teeth gently so that you don’t accidentally push them out of place. Once your new set of veneers is complete, you will come back in to have the temporary set removed.
We will bond your veneers to your teeth using dental cement. Before completing the process, we will ensure that they are the right size and shape and that they look natural on your teeth. If any small changes need to be made, we can typically do so at that time. Once we are satisfied, we will bond your veneers in place so that you can leave with a beautiful new smile. It may take a couple of days to become accustomed to wearing them, but afterwards you will feel comfortable, and your veneers will seem natural.
What are dental veneers in Florence used for?
In our cosmetic dentistry office, we place veneers to cover a wide variety of aesthetic problems. They are an incredibly versatile solution because, once in place, you cannot see the tooth underneath. They can be used to cover dark stains, close gaps in between teeth, make crooked teeth appear straight, and change the overall shape and size of teeth. This is ideal if your teeth look too small for your frame or you have gaps that are causing you to consider orthodontics. Since we can complete the process in two appointments, it is a fast and effective way to improve your smile.
